Featured Artist for the Month of April
I’m pleased to announce that I have been selected to be the Featured Artist at a brand new gallery in Princeton, NJ for the month of April. The gallery is called Gallery on Nassau and has a different approach to marketing art. In their words, “Gallery on Nassau, located in Tigerlabs of downtown Princeton NJ, is a new kind of art gallery where the Princeton community and artists interact through engagement. We don’t use terms like “stable of artists” which means there is a finite number. Also, we don’t see our artists as horses. Instead we use the term “network of artists” because there are many artists we want to showcase for exhibition and education.”
I will have 14 pieces on display – 4 are there physically while 10 will be shown digitally. Cherry Tree, pictured above, is one of them. The Artist Reception is on Saturday, April 14th from 4:30 – 6:00 PM EST. Here is more info.
Moving to Seattle
Last month, I announced that I was closing my studio. As of today (4/1), I am no longer located at the NW Upshur Street location. Currently, I have my art here at my home. if you are interested in a piece, please send me an email at nancy@nancyriedellfinearts.net so we can work out the details.
Due to family circumstances beyond my control, I am moving to Seattle to be closer to my daughter and granddaughters. I plan on being there a year to help out with things. My plan is to move back to California, but we’ll see, if the Seattle art scene proves to be worthy of my time and energy, I’ll stay.
Going Dark
I am going through a “renaissance” of sorts. While I have enjoyed painting watercolors and putting them in themed collections, I’ve grown a bit weary of painting this way. I have found that selling art is extremely difficult and this has put both a financial and emotional strain on me. Therefore, I am going through a period that I’m calling Going Dark. During this time, I will not be sending out a newsletter, painting, or marketing my art. Instead, I’ll be exploring new ideas and styles.
I am going to be finding a new studio in Seattle and when that happens, I’ll be experimenting with various mediums and styles. In college, I painted profusely with acrylics and I think now is a good time to get back into using them.
I cannot promise that I will continue using this web provider. I may look into others. I am not sure when I will send out another newsletter but I plan to send out an announcement once I do. I hope you continue to stay with me as I march along this new and uncharted journey.
Thank you for your support,
Nancy
