From Linda Curtis:
Hi Aimee,
I thought I’d sent this information out, but I must be mistaken. Since the deadline for entry is May 20th, can I somehow send it to our members?
The show is an Alzheimer’s benefit at the Coastal Arts League in Half Moon Bay. Entry info is at www.CoastalArtsLeague.org.
This is a juried all media show.
This show is followed by a Painting and Drawing show also juried. Both shows offer cash and materials prizes.
Thanks,
Linda Curtis

Now is the time to secure your entry. Please send entry fees to Dale Johnson 709 Walnut Ave Santa Cruz 95060
Membership and $100 for essentially a ten foot hanging space, $35 for single entries and $25 for 2nd and 3rd entries. (Guidelines for the ten foot spaces can be found in the SCWS April 2016 Newsletter on this website.) We encourage your entries to be for sale. When you are pricing please remember that the gallery holds 20% of the sale price. Please commit to entries by June 30, 2018. I will need your name, the entry fee the titles, sizes and prices of your entries. Sometime in June I will email a form for the entries. Please just type in the information within the format so that I can paste it all together in a consistent manner. All pieces need to be framed and ready to hang. *Please use white matting. If your framing varies from this, please consult with Linda or Aimée. The hanging committee will attempt to make the show cohesive if there is any variation. The option for matted entries will also continue. If you have reserved the ten foot option, you may also share a bin for up to 10 matted entries. Last year’s show included 5 shared bins. We need to continue sharing bins. Otherwise the show becomes too crowded. I will also need a record of the matted pieces, their titles and prices for cataloging.
List of entries will be received in June (sent to: Aimee Nelson 229 Fridley Drive Santa Cruz 95060)

Spring Samish Paint Out
May 9-13, 2018
Registration Now Open
Yay! Spring Camp is less than 2 months away! This is your invitation to a 4-night/5- day weekend of painting (and eating) at a beautiful camp overlooking Samish Bay in Northwestern Washington, about ninety minutes north of Seattle. We will have a relaxing getaway with delicious meals, demos and a chance to work and talk with other painters and share ideas and tips. The views are majestic, including the island itself, with its oyster beds and shoreline, the surrounding waters and the San Juan Islands in the background. Lots of opportunities for photos, hiking, sketching and plein air painting.
The annual Spring Samish Bay Paint Out will be held from dinner Wednesday, May 9, through breakfast on Sunday, May 13 th (Yes. It’s Mother’s Day!) If you are a Mother, Camp could be a nice gift! Wednesday arrival time is after 2:00 PM. No children or pets, please, and no liquor is allowed on the premises. Both beginners and experienced painters (watercolor, acrylic, pastel, etc.) are welcome, and you do not need to be a member of the Northwest Watercolor Society to attend. Bring a friend. Lodging and all meals are included in the cost. Dress for the northwest – cool, misty, hot (not likely), sunny, whatever! Bring enough paper and other supplies to last the weekend – there are no nearby art stores.
There are 2 types of cabins: “Standard” cabins are small wood structures with heat, lights and beds/cots for 2-6 persons with a short walk to shared bathrooms and showers. There are plenty of these cabins that you may have one to yourself or share with friends if you wish. The second type of cabin we call “E-cabins”. These rooms have 1-3 beds in them with a shared connecting bathroom and shower. These cabins are limited so it is nice if you are willing to share. People who share a room get first preference.
Please fill out the registration form and send to me along with your check made payable to Northwest Watercolor Society. My address is on the bottom of the registration form. Admission is limited so please get your registration back to me ASAP! Registration money is non-refundable two weeks prior to camp.
A couple of weeks before camp starts I’ll send an e-mail to all registrants giving directions and a map to the camp along with other information that might prove helpful.
I am looking forward to seeing you at camp this spring!

Exhibits In Bay Area:
The new exhibit at Asian Art Museum in SF is a really stunning show. Entitled DIVINE BODIES, it features Buddhist and Hindu cultures and other materials on that subject. The
figures are some of the finest I’ve ever seen, and I think it is a very, very wonderful show.
